Meet the Dental Team
Our friendly dental team is here to ensure you have a great visit to Smiles By Design. Learn more about the team members you will meet during your visit below.
Debbie – Registered Dental Hygienist
Debbie became a part of our practice in 2016. She graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian from the dental hygiene program at the University of New Mexico in 2000, and she was in the Golden Key International Honour Society. Debbie has been a clinical instructor and has volunteered at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute and the Memory Care Center for Alzheimer’s patients.
At our dental practice, she loves how we always treat our patients like family members. Communication with our patients is always a priority and the consistency of the staff and longevity of the employees make the patients feel comfortable. Debbie contributes to the success of our office by using her education as a clinician in dental hygiene to provide better care for our patients. She tries to keep a close relationship with all our patients and develop trusting relationships during treatments.
Debbie moved to Arvada, Colorado, over nine years ago. She is married to a wonderful husband that serves and protects our community and has three amazing children that keep her busy with sports. They also have three golden retrievers that will do anything for treats! Her hobbies include working at her second job staging homes, baking, cooking New Mexican food, working out, walking her dogs, fishing and watching movies.
Sarah – Dental Assistant
Sarah graduated from the dental assisting program at Warren Tech in 2004 and joined our office in April 2022. She brings positivity and professionalism to her job and makes patient comfort and safety her highest priorities. She is grateful to be a part of a close-knit team and to have the chance to work with her sister, Kayla.
Sarah is married to her wonderful husband Darryl. They have an amazing daughter, Annibellah and a sweet dog named Presley. Away from work, she looks forward to camping, hiking, traveling and trying new foods. She also enjoys helping her husband restore old cars.
Kimberley – Registered Dental Hygienist
Kimberly joined our practice in July of 2021. She graduated from Carrington College of California with a degree in dental hygiene in 2010. Kimberly loves coming to work at her job and especially loves all the members of our dental team who make SBD a family-friendly, fun-loving environment.
She contributes to our practice by utilizing her specialized patient-care techniques. She treats each patient based on their individualized needs and believes that her care and patience with each patient helps promote a successful practice that patients enjoy coming to.
Kimberly is married to her husband, Michael, and they have three children: a daughter and two sons. She loves spending time with her little boys on the weekend at all of their sporting events, including basketball, baseball and soccer games.
Jen – Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
We welcomed Jen to our practice in September of 2006. She graduated from the Pima Medical Institute dental assistant certificate program in 2004 and has CEREC Primescan training. She is an Invisalign® clear aligner coordinator, a Zoom teeth whitening coordinator and our removable prosthesis specialist.
Jen loves everything about our practice and feels that the energy and culture are unmatched! Every day is a day full of laughter, and the doctor invests in our training and learning opportunities as well as our health and mental well-being. Dr. Justin cares about the best interests of everyone he encounters! We have so many patients that we just adore and care about like family! Jen’s favorite thing is when a patient is done with treatment, and they are crying happy tears about how much their lives have changed with having a happy, healthy smile. She is cross-trained throughout the office and loves being a dental assistant that helps our practice succeed by being a bubbly, upbeat person we can rely on.
Outside the office, Jen enjoys reading when she can find the time and looks forward to meeting new people and helping them change their lives with a beautiful, happy, healthy smile!
Stacey – Dental Assistant
Stacey became a part of our practice over 20 years ago! She graduated with honors from Front Range Community College before joining our office. Stacey loves the feeling of family we have here and our team’s love for our patients. We have had generations of families coming to us for years, and Dr. Smutz treats every one of our patients like family too. Stacey contributes to our success by trying to bring a positive attitude and energy every day. She is grateful to work with such wonderful, caring people.
Stacey is blessed to have been married since 1982. She has two children and now two grandchildren. When not with us, she enjoys walking trails, going to parks and spending time with her family and friends
Nancy – Front Desk Coordinator
Nancy joined our team in August 2024. She has over two decades of experience in the dental field, including 20 years as a dental assistant. She is excited to transition to the front office and start a second career in her same field. Nancy loves the family atmosphere and friendly team environment of our office, and enjoys being the first smiling face our patients see when they arrive for appointments. Her goal is to help our patients feel welcome and to assist them in any way she can.
Nancy and her husband have one daughter and three cats. When not in the office, she and her husband love to run, paddleboard and hike together, as well as visit antique stores and spend time with their pets. Nancy is also an avid reader.
Kayla – Front Office Administrator
Kayla joined us in May of 2022. She attended Warren Tech Central, where she received her dental assisting degree. She is excited to be part of a small, but growing, practice and is looking forward to building relationships with our patients and seeing their smiles transform throughout their treatment. Kayla helps us succeed by helping in any way she can, and she loves interacting with our patients!
When away from the office, Kayla enjoys going on adventures with her husband, trying new restaurants, camping, hiking and traveling.
Bethany – Dental Hygienist
Bethany earned a Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Bridgeport Fones School of Dental Hygiene in 2014. She joined our team in March 2022 and loves our laid-back, fun atmosphere. Bethany enjoys being part of a team which strives to ensure patients feel comfortable and to minimize stress during dental procedures. She brings great positivity and compassion to our practice, and takes pride in listening to and communicating with patients to limit dental anxiety. We can always count on Bethany to greet our patients with a smile!
Bethany and her husband, Dan, have been married since 2010, and have two black labs, Lily and Stratton. They moved to Colorado, in 2017 after spending a weekend skiing in Steamboat – it was then that they knew they had to live near the mountains. When not in the office, she can be found exploring Colorado, primarily through hiking with her dogs, as well as skiing, kayaking and camping.
Danni – Registered Dental Hygienist
Danii completed undergraduate studies at Notre Dame de Namur University, where she majored in biology. After college, she entered a dental assisting program at Foothill College in Los Actos, California. In 2010 she completed a dental hygiene program to become a hygienist. Danni enjoys being part of our team and the energy here at SBD, as well as being part of a practice that stays current with technology and other advances in the dental field. She works hard to give each patient the best care possible and to help educate them about their oral health. Danni enjoys getting to know her patients and learn about them over the years.
Danni and her husband have two wonderful boys. Her hobbies include learning new cooking recipes, spending time outside, hiking and doing Barre3.
Felina – Dental Assistant
Felina graduated from Warren Tech in 1999 as an expanded duties dental assistant and joined our team here at SBD in August 2022. Her goal each day is to make every patient feel comfortable and well-educated about their oral health, and she enjoys being part of a practice with a wonderful overall environment, amazing doctors, and coworkers who feel like family.
Felina has been married for over 21 years and has three children. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, playing games, and hiking.
